Organisational Background

GROW was established in 1991 and registered as an NGO in 1996.  GROW has a Nine member Executive Committee and the Managing Director as its Secretariat.  In 1991, GROW piloted its program in Mateanong with a small horticulture project.  In 1998 GROW began working in the field of HIV AND AIDS, primarily focusing on awareness activities and distributing condoms in its work areas.

Over the years GROW adapted its interventions in response to community needs, to develop the current programmes

1) community health

2) livelihoods recovery

3) Local rights programme

4) Strengthening local capacity to redress land degradation and build livelihoods

5) water quality monitoring; all of which mainstream issues of HIV and AIDS, good gradation and build governance and gender.
